Things to do before you leave

Here are some tips on what you need to do before you leave,
whether you’re doing the final clean yourself or have booked a cleaning service.

 

Final cleaning - You ordered our cleaning service?

If you have ordered the final cleaning, you will still have to do a few things yourself when you leave.

  • Empty all rubbish bins.
  • Empty the dishwasher and put all the crockery away.
  • Clean the coffee machine.
  • Empty and clean the fridge completely.

  • If there is a hot tub: Fill it with cold water to 10 cm above the top jet.

  • If a pet is staying with you on holiday:
    Vacuum the whole house thoroughly.
    Remove all the droppings from the property.

 

Are you doing the cleaning yourselves? Here are your tasks.

Cleaning equipment, such as a vacuum cleaner, mop, etc., is provided in the holiday home. Please contact the office if anything is missing or if, for example, you need new vacuum cleaner bags.

Guests must bring their own cleaning supplies, such as cloths, sponges, dish brushes and cleaning products (all-purpose cleaner, bathroom cleaner, washing-up liquid, etc.). Sometimes previous guests have left cleaning supplies in the house, but you shouldn’t count on this.

Kitchen

  • Empty all bins and line them with fresh bin liners for the next guests.
  • Empty the dishwasher and put all crockery away in its proper place.
  • Clean the coffee machine.
  • Clean the kitchen – including the extractor fan, toaster, microwave, hob and oven.
  • Empty and clean the fridge completely.

Please do NOT leave ANY food in the house. This includes dry goods such as pasta, sugar, flour, porridge, etc.
Would you yourself use something that’s in the house if you didn’t know how long it had been there?
Furthermore, such supplies can attract mice if the house is left empty for a while.

Bathroom

  • Empty the waste bin and line it with fresh bin liners for the next guests.
  • Clean the toilets thoroughly.
  • Clean the shower, all washbasins and taps.
  • If there is a hot tub: Fill it with cold water to 10 cm above the top jet.

Living areas

  • Wipe down all surfaces and light fittings.
  • Wipe down chairs and tables.
  • Clean and vacuum sofas and armchairs – including the crevices between the cushions.

Bedrooms

  • Vacuum – including under the beds.
  • Shake out the duvets and place them neatly on the beds.

General

  • Vacuum all rooms.
  • Wipe smooth floors with a damp cloth.
  • Clean all windows inside and out.
  • Remove cobwebs.
